Adding a second battery to an existing e-trike

Eliminate range anxiety by adding a second battery to your existing e-trike. There are many e-trikes on the market, but they all have one thing in common, they have a rear axle cage where a basket is mounted. The basket will be either welded or bolted to the rear axle cage. If the basket is bolted to the axle cage it can be removed and the bolting surface of the axle cage evaluated for compatibility with the two battery mount /basket risers we offer. The bolting surface on the axle cage is a horizontal surface and the use of the one position battery mount/ basket riser offered here is the simplest possible viable solution to adding a second battery to your e-trike.

Attaching the battery mount/ basket riser to your axle cage may require some drilling of mounting holes to your trike and the battery mount/ basket riser. A general procedure to accomplish this is to attach the battery to the battery mount/basket riser first before positioning it in a final mounting location on the axle cage. This is because the screws that are used to fasten the battery to the bracket protrude on the bottom of the battery bracket and may interfere with your axle cage. Once the battery mount/basket riser with the battery is positioned on your trike axle cage, you can determine the proper mounting method which will be either through bolting or the use of self drilling screws (tec screws) which can be purchased at a local hardware store.

As you can see, you need to evaluate your specific trike to determine compatibility with the battery bracket found here. This Installation is for the advanced do it yourselfer.
